DEAR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS

Since 2011, New Taipei City has been pushing local elementary schools to conduct bilingual lessons for their students, introducing foreign teachers and staffs, building an international environment for our next generation, in order to develop competitive talents.


The project started with five schools, and gradually expanded to 14 schools in 2017. Each of the participating schools has their own special features regarding bilingual courses. For instance, Longpu Elementary School emphasizes on group works, offering extensive English classes for students who show interests. Paiyun Elementary School combined foreign teachers and voluntary parents to provide English classes in the area of arts and literature. Touhu Elementary School sees the importance of helping overseas born students to adapt local education, by arranging foreign and local teachers to give independent courses for the student on language learning.


It is important to understand that the project aims to provide an English learning environment for the children. Learning English does not necessarily happen only in English classes, but can be practiced in other subjects of learning, also in other forms such as English broadcasting, journals, or clubs. It has been shown that higher grade students found it helpful after this approach has been applied.

                                                   

New Taipei City expects to construct an appropriate roadmap of bilingual education for the city by this project. In the future, combining the experience accumulated with right policy, strong faculty, and teaching resources, elevate the education quality not only for the students, but also for the teachers.

OUR RECRUITMENT SERVICES

New Taipei City Bilingual School Program is recruiting qualified teachers for English-teaching positions at public schools in Taiwan. The FET programme, designed to facilitate immersion in the English language amongst pupils and to develop links between schools in English-speaking countries and Taiwan, offers a wide range of financial and other benefits to successful applicants.

Furthermore, we provide assistance in official documents application such as VISA, Alien resident Certificate, as well as accommodations and orientation to help successful applicants settle in.

Benefits include a monthly salary, reimbursement of flight costs up to a certain amount, an accommodation stipend and selected health-care insurance. Teachers will also be entitled to annual leave, overtime pay (if the 40-hour working week is exceeded) and a possible performance bonus if conditions and standards are met.

Salary information is as follows:
Holders of doctoral degrees: NT$ 73,025 – 91,420 per month
Holders of Master's degrees: NT$ 69,965 – 86,820 per month
Holders of bachelor's degrees: NT$ 62,720 – 78,045 per month
The exact salary rate shall be determined according to the amount of teaching experience of each applicant.

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must be in possession of an undergraduate degree or higher from a recognised institution, be a certified teacher with at least one year's experience teaching at a public government school (or a registered private school within Taiwan) and have no criminal record. Initial teaching posts are for one academic year (August to the following July), with the possibility of renewal at the end of that period.
